PADI’s International Women’s Dive Day: Encourage More Women To Dive

The PADI’s International Women’s Dive Day Diving event has been growing each year, and is organised to get even more people, notably women, experiencing the underwater world. Diving used to be almost completely male-dominated, with over 90% of divers being men, and very little specific female gear available to women. These days, women have sprinted ahead, and now women make up about one-third of all certifications. We would still love to see that number reach 50/50, and we hope the PADI Women’s Dive Day can encourage more women to dive.

Woman diver

How?

Dive events, such as special (intro) dives, are organised worldwide to enthuse women about diving, the ocean and the underwater world. Diving provides an ideal opportunity to travel and to make friends! Also, diving can be combined with other sports such as yoga for double entertainment.

The percentage of women involved in professional scuba diving is still relatively modest, but also here a catch up is visible over the last few years.

The PADI International Women’s Dive Day rallies the diving community worldwide and raise awareness.
