Galapagos Master

Galapagos Master

Known locally as Deep Blue, Galapagos Master is a 32 metre scuba diving liveaboard vessel which underwent a complete interior refit to the highest standards in 2015. Constructed from steel, the vessel is steadier than most due to being designed to be lower to aid stability and speed. Mostly recently refurbished in early 2023, Galapagos Master offers 7 and 10 night itineraries covering some of the top dive sites in the Galápagos.

What Divers Say

★★★★★

"A bucket list trip to be sure. Galapagos Master was an excellent boat with an outstanding crew - if they made anything incorrect they corrected it instantly and they were spot on."

Erick C.
★★★★★

"An incredible week. The marine life in Galapagos is truly unique - whale sharks, hammerhead sharks, humpback whales, leopard rays, and much more. The dive guide and crew are also attentive, amazing service."

Bruno C.
★★★★★

"The crew and boat were amazing! The crew were always ready to help and made sure everything was ok. The guides were kind and tried to meet expectations that everyone had. The food on board was amazing! For the vegetarians there was always something different."

Common Questions

What certification do I need?
Advanced Open Water certification is mandatory, with a minimum of 50 logged dives, preferably with experience in strong currents and reduced visibility. Diving at Wolf and Darwin in particular involves strong currents and surge, and good buoyancy is essential.
How much time is spent cruising between sites?
The archipelago covers around 45,000 km2 and reaching the northern sites involves long open-ocean crossings, mostly overnight. As a guide: San Cristobal to Baltra or Santa Cruz takes 6-7 hours, Baltra or Santa Cruz to Darwin is 18-20 hours, Wolf Island to Fernandina is 15 hours, and Fernandina to Vicente Punta Roca is around 2.5 hours. Bring motion-sickness medication if you are prone to it.
What about seasickness?
The archipelago covers around 45,000 km2, so reaching the northern sites involves long open ocean crossings, mostly overnight. As a rough indication: San Cristobal to Baltra or Santa Cruz takes 6-7 hours, Baltra or Santa Cruz to Darwin is 18-20 hours, Wolf Island to Fernandina is 15 hours, and Fernandina to Vicente Punta Roca is around 2.5 hours. Bring seasickness medication if you are prone to motion sickness.
Do I need a wetsuit?
Water temperatures range from 16-26°C across the archipelago, with sites in the southern and central regions dropping to 15°C or lower and thermoclines expected throughout the year. We recommend a 5mm or 7mm wetsuit with additional layers (shorty, skinsuit, vest or hood) for cooler waters, plus gloves for warmth and to hold on to rocks in current.
