About This Itinerary

Surrounding the Southern Visayas is the Visayan sea, rich in nutrients and plankton that supports a variety of important ecosystems. There are several areas of protected mangroves and much of the region is protected by marine sanctuaries. Fishing is still a staple means of income for many Filipinos, however, marine sanctuaries such as those enforced at Apo Island have spurred islanders to protect their marine habitats.

Common Questions

When is Tubbataha open and what are the rules?
Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park has a short, permit-controlled season each year. We obtain the required Visitor Entry Permits on your behalf and need full guest details (passport, dive logs, contact) at least two weeks before your cruise. Once on the reef, gloves, tank bangers, reef hooks and pointers are prohibited (medical exceptions require a doctor's certificate), drones require a separate permit from Tubbataha Management, and a strict no-single-use-plastic policy applies.
What certification do I need?
Visayas, Malapascua and Southern Leyte itineraries are generally suitable for all experience levels, with sites varying from gentle reefs and muck diving to walls and rocky outcrops; check the specific itinerary for logged-dive minimums (typically 25). Tubbataha is only suitable for divers with Advanced Open Water certification and a minimum of 50 logged dives, comfortable in changeable currents.
How do I get to the embarkation port?
Embarkation port depends on the itinerary. Visayas itineraries embark from Cebu, with included transfers between Cebu Airport (or your local hotel) and the vessel on embarkation and disembarkation days. Tubbataha itineraries depart from Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
Are park and marine fees included?
No. Marine park and port fees are obligatory and vary by itinerary and areas covered. The applicable amount is added to your invoice as an on-board payment at the time of booking, paid before disembarkation.
