What Divers Say

★★★★★

"Diving aboard Maldives Master was fantastic. The boat and amenities were first class and far surpassed my expectations - spacious, clean, comfortable. The entire crew was very friendly, hospitable, and went out of their way to assist. Still had great sightings of manta rays, sharks, and a whole variety of smaller stuff underwater. Excellent food to keep the entire group fuelled up for the day!"

Common Questions

What certification do I need?
The majority of dive sites are beyond Open Water certification depth limits. Advanced Open Water (or equivalent, certified to 30 metres) is the recommended minimum. For central atolls itineraries we require a minimum of 30 logged dives with experience in currents. For itineraries covering southern or northern atolls, Advanced Open Water with a minimum of 50 logged dives is mandatory. Negative entries and drift dives are to be expected on all itineraries.
Are there marine park or visitor fees?
Yes, on certain itineraries. On Baa Atoll itineraries that visit Hanifaru Bay, a 30 USD per person entrance fee applies, payable on board in USD cash. On Fuvamulah Atoll itineraries that include Tiger Harbour, a 30 USD per person per dive charge applies, also payable on board in USD cash. USD notes must be in good condition and no older than 2006.
Is there a rainy season?
The Maldives have a tropical climate with two monsoonal seasons: Dry from November to April and Wet from May to October. Daytime temperatures average 30-31C all year. Diving is good year-round, although rain can occur in any month.
What about non-divers?
Opportunities for snorkellers and non-divers on our Maldives itineraries are extremely limited. Most dive sites are deep outer reefs around channels with strong currents and surge, making them hazardous for snorkelling or swimming. All diving is run from the dhoni, which stays at the dive site, so snorkellers cannot be taken elsewhere. Snorkelling or swimming is generally only possible in the afternoon when the liveaboard has moored up for the night inside an atoll.
