Safety First – Your Experience

Part V - Final: Your experience onboard

For this final edition of Safety First series, let’s have a look at what your experience will when you come onboard a Master Liveaboards vessel. Our protocols, which we are outlining in this series Safety First, go a long way to ensure we meet this goal.

When you join us onboard a Master Liveaboards vessel, your safety is our top priority. As
part of our safety protocols, you will experience it first-hand.

Full safety briefing

Upon boarding the vessel, you will receive a comprehensive safety briefing. This briefing will cover essential safety information and instructions to ensure your well-being throughout the journey. The safety briefing may include:

  • Introduction to the vessel’s safety features, including emergency exits, life-saving equipment, and fire suppression systems.
  • Explanation of the safety procedures, such as how to don a life jacket, where to assemble during emergencies, and how to use emergency communication devices.
  • Familiarisation with the layout of the vessel, including key locations such as muster stations, first aid stations, and emergency equipment storage areas.

Life jacket and muster station drills

Soon after your briefing you will actively participate in a life jacket and muster drill. The muster drill is a practice session to get you familiar with the procedures to follow in the event of an emergency. During the muster drill, you will be guided to your assigned muster station. A muster station is a designated assembly point in case of an emergency. The drill may include:

  • Verification of attendance to ensure that all passengers and crew members are present.
  • Demonstration of how to properly don a life jacket and secure it.
  • Explanation of emergency signals, alarms, and announcements that may be used during an emergency situation.
  • Overview of the evacuation routes and procedures, emphasising the importance of staying calm and following crew instructions.

Escape points and evacuation routes

As part of our commitment to safety, you will also have the opportunity to participate in an escape and evacuation walkthrough. This walkthrough aims to familiarise you with the specific escape routes and evacuation procedures relevant to the vessel. It may include:

  • Guided tour of primary and alternative escape routes from different areas of the vessel, including cabins, public spaces, and crew quarters.
  • Explanation of evacuation procedures, such as the use of escape slides, life rafts, and embarkation points.
  • Demonstration of the proper techniques for safely boarding life rafts or other evacuation vessels.

By providing you with a full safety briefing, conducting a muster drill, and offering an escape and evacuation walkthrough, we ensure that you are well-informed and ready to respond appropriately in case of an emergency. Your safety and the safety of all passengers and crew members are our utmost priority. We are dedicated to maintaining a secure environment throughout your journey.
