About This Itinerary

Located in the remote Republic of the Marshall Islands near Micronesia, Bikini Atoll is one of the most famous places in the world for wreck diving. After WWII the US gathered a mock naval fleet in order to test the effects of different atomic bombs on warships. Between 1946 and 1958 the US tested 67 nuclear bombs, most notably during ''Operation Crossroads''. This Bikini Atoll 11 nights liveaboard diving itinerary will focus on the highlights of this famed lagoon.

What Divers Say

★★★★★

"David Buckland - so helpful at every stage"

★★★★★

"Our expedition was not normal for the captain and crew. They accepted our creative schedule with great understanding and practical help. They also shared their deep knowledge of oceans and marine activity and were honestly curious about the endeavours of the onboard artists. They and all your crew were so helpful at every stage - making us aware of safety at the same time as trying to making the difficult possible. Please extend our thanks to all and for helping with the charter."

★★★★★

"What a phenomenal team on the Pacific Master led by Captain Hugo.... Going out to one of the most remote dive destinations, Bikini Atoll, the Taka, Pacific master always felt safe. I look forward to seeing you again soon and the bragging rights of such an epic trip, LOL. I will exaggerate my adventure many times over."

Common Questions

Is it safe to dive at Bikini Atoll?
Yes. Residual radiation to which divers are exposed from the Bikini Atoll shipwrecks is negligible and poses no significant risk, as long as you do not try to take any souvenirs. Removing items from the wrecks is hazardous and forbidden.
What certification do I need?
Bikini Atoll is not suitable for recreational divers, even those certified to 40 metres. The minimum certification is TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures, PADI Tec 45, or equivalent (45+ metres). Rebreather divers need TDI Air Diluent-45 metres / Helitrox Decompression-45 metres, or equivalent. All divers must have at least 100 logged dives and previous deep wreck experience. Most wrecks start around 50 metres.
How do I get there?
Our Bikini Atoll itineraries are built around United Airlines flight schedules from Honolulu, Hawaii, which serves both Kwajalein and Majuro. Because luggage may not always travel on the same flight, we strongly recommend arriving in the Marshall Islands at least two days before your liveaboard departure. Departure tax from Kwajalein and Majuro is currently 20 USD.
What wetsuit and exposure protection do I need?
Bring exposure protection suited to extended bottom times and prolonged decompression stops. Either a 3mm or 5mm full-length suit is suitable. A 3mm may be enough if you do not feel the cold; a 5mm helps reduce the risk of injury from sharp objects on the wrecks and gives more thermal cover for longer dives.
