Our Spice Islands liveaboard scuba diving itinerary takes you to some of the world famous muck diving sites in Ambon Bay and across the Banda Sea following the Spice Trail through the Inner Banda Arc to Alor. Key areas on this route are Ambon, Banda, Manoek, Nil Desperandum & Serua and the volcanic island, Gunung Api, famous for its high population of Chinese sea snakes.
Highlights: Amazing macro, great diversity of sponges in Alor’s pristine reefs, steep walls, incredibly dense leather coral plateaus, lava flows, mandarin fish in Banda Island, chances of pelagic shark and ray encounters.
On a typical day in the Spice Islands we offer up to 4 day dives or 3 day dives and a sunset or night dive. The diving day is scheduled as follows:
- Light Breakfast followed by a briefing and Dive 1
- Full Breakfast, relaxation period, briefing and Dive 2
- Lunch, relaxation period, briefing and Dive 3
- Snack relaxation period, briefing and Dive 4, (where possible)
- Dinner
The itinerary and sites indicated above are an example only and subject to change depending on weather and logistics, local regulations, guests’ experience, flight schedules*, and at the Captain’s discretion. Adverse weather and sea conditions can affect the Spice Islands itinerary which includes several overnight sailings.
*Please be advised that domestic flights in Indonesia are often subject to delays, schedule changes and cancellations which can result in missed connections and / or late embarkation. We strongly recommend that you make arrangements to arrive in Ambon the day before your itinerary’s embarkation date. Launched in April 2011, the 40m Indo Siren was built on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi and is handcrafted from ironwood and teak (traditional to the area). You will find no other diving liveaboard as beautiful in Indonesian waters, and being built by divers for divers, you can rest assured that every need has been thought of and addressed.
Welcoming a maximum of 16 guests per trip ensures that there is ample space to relax. The 8 cabins are comprised of 2 fixed doubles, 2 flexible twin/doubles and 4 fixed twins, all offering air-conditioning and private en-suite bathrooms with hot water
