Overview
Critter-rich macro sites
Stunning reef systems
Something for every diver
Historic WWII wrecks
Pelagic encounters
Sailing one way from Batangas to the Calamian Islands, the Anilao to Coron 10 nights liveaboard diving itinerary links four very different kinds of Philippines diving. The critter-rich slopes of Anilao and Maricaban give way to the current-fed walls of the Verde Island Passage, one of the richest areas for shore fish diversity in the world, and the reefs of Apo Reef Natural Park, the largest coral reef system in the Philippines. The route ends among the coral-encrusted Japanese wrecks of Coron Bay, with a dugong snorkelling excursion at Calauit and a visit to Barracuda Lake on Coron Island.

Maps & Itinerary
This 10 night liveaboard itinerary from Anilao to Coron allows up to 28 dives, including night dives.
Anilao, Batangas Anilao is best known for macro, with frogfish, octopus and pygmy seahorses on its slopes and shallow walls. Its coral-covered rocks also draw schools of jacks and batfish, so there is more here than critters.
Maricaban & Tingloy More exposed to current than the mainland sites, these islands have walls and coral gardens draped in soft corals. Reef fish are plentiful and turtles are often found resting on the reef.
Verde Island & Puerto Galera Strong tidal flows feed walls hung with sea fans and black coral, with jacks, tuna and mackerel out in the blue. Around Puerto Galera, drifts and canyon dives change with the tide, and small wrecks add variety.
Apo Reef Natural Park Around 28km (17 miles) west of Mindoro, Apo Reef covers about 34km² (13 square miles) and is the largest coral reef system in the Philippines. Protected since 1980, its walls and drop-offs are known for reef sharks, turtles, groupers and bumphead parrotfish
Calauit Snorkelling with local Tagbanua guides over seagrass beds frequented by dugongs and turtles. Sightings are common, although they cannot be guaranteed.
Coron Bay Wrecks Japanese ships sunk in 1944, from large freighters and tankers to a small, shallow gunboat. Holds and engine rooms still contain cargo and machinery, and the coral growth is home to batfish, lionfish and scorpionfish.
Barracuda Lake, Coron Island A lake ringed by limestone cliffs, with jagged underwater formations and a shimmering layer where fresh water meets salty.
On a typical day we offer up to 4 dives; 3 day dives and, where possible, a fourth sunset or night dive. The diving day is usually scheduled as follows:
- Light Breakfast followed by a briefing and Dive 1
- Full Breakfast, relaxation period, briefing and Dive 2
- Lunch, relaxation period, briefing and Dive 3
- Snack relaxation period, briefing and Dive 4, where possible
- Dinner
The itinerary outline above is an example only and is subject to change depending on local regulations, guests’ experience, flight schedules, weather and logistics and is at the Captain’s discretion. Adverse weather can affect this route, which includes several overnight sailings.
Please note
• Penetration of the Coron wrecks is at the dive guides’ discretion and only for divers with appropriate training, experience and equipment.
• Reaching Barracuda Lake involves a short, steep climb over limestone steps carrying your dive gear.
