The Anilao & Verde Island 7 nights liveaboard diving itinerary is spent entirely around the Verde Island Passage, the strait between Luzon and Mindoro that marine scientists have called the 'centre of the centre' of shore fish diversity. Anilao built its name on small things, with frogfish, octopus and nudibranchs on its sandy slopes, while the currents around Maricaban keep the soft corals open. Out in the passage, the Verde Island Drop Off falls away into very deep water, and Puerto Galera adds canyons, drift dives and small wrecks.

Maps & Itinerary

Anilao, Batangas

Often called the birthplace of Philippine diving, Anilao made its name on macro and muck diving, but there’s far more to it than critters. Coral-covered rocks swarm with anthias and jacks, a protected sanctuary is busy with reef fish and the remains of a capsized barge lie on the reef.

Maricaban & Tingloy

Exposed to the currents of the Verde Island Passage, these islands have a livelier feel than the sheltered mainland sites. Sepoc Wall and the ridges around Sombrero Island are hung with gorgonians, barrel sponges and soft corals, with anthias and jacks in the water and turtles often seen in the shallows.

Verde Island

Verde Island diving is all about the current. At the Drop Off, a pinnacle rises from very deep water to break the surface, its walls hung with giant sea fans and so thick with anthias that you can struggle to see the reef, while jacks, tuna and mackerel patrol the blue.

Puerto Galera

Puerto Galera diving changes with the tide. On a big flow, the canyons and reefs off Escarceo Point are fast drifts past sea fans, trevally and tuna; at slack water, they become gentle dives for photographers. Closer to Sabang, small wrecks are home to frogfish and friendly batfish.

Your Cruise Director will schedule up to 4 dives per day; 3 day dives and a sunset or night dive, where possible, allowing up to 22 dives on this 7 night itinerary. A typical full diving day is scheduled as follows:

  • Light Breakfast, briefing and dive 1
  • Full Breakfast, briefing and dive 2
  • Lunch, relaxation, briefing and dive 3
  • Snacks, relaxation, Briefing and dive 4, where possible
  • Dinner

Philippine Siren, February 2020
Vibrant reefs even though most dive sites had lots of day boats. The crew is amazing! Happy, accommodating, playful, thoughtful (underwater birthday celebration). The food is excellent and plentyful.

Philippine Siren, September 2018
Not a single thing to complain about and everything to rave about. Chrissie and Jona made everything so easy, and the entire Siren crew made this "Princess Diving" at its very best. Accommodations were superb, the showers were the best after a dive, the food was absolutely excellent - chef and kitchen staff awesome. The dive boats and crew were top notch, and the support staff were simply the best. And this doesn't even start with the diving, which was fantastic (vis, temp, dive guides, and marine life). Philippines Siren is simply one of the best live aboard dive adventures going.

A well organised and facilitated 6 days. Departed from Cebu City. All the staff on board were fantastic and assisted without question. On board facilities are fantastic. Dive guides were brilliant and guided us around some fantastic dive sites. I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. Money well spent, great value and I'll be doing this again. As far as guidelines, bring your dive gear, minimal clothing and have a ball. A big thanks to the Cruise Director Chrissie, her backup Jona and all the staff on board. You are all a credit to the organisation.
