Pelagic encounters
Starting and finishing in Coron, this 7 night liveaboard itinerary pairs two of the best-known dive areas in the Philippines. In Coron Bay, the Japanese supply ships sunk in September 1944 range from the coral-covered tanker Okikawa Maru to the seaplane tender Akitsushima, with her aircraft crane lying on the sand. Across the Mindoro Strait, Apo Reef Natural Park is the largest coral reef system in the Philippines, with walls, sharks and turtles. The route also includes a dugong snorkelling excursion off Calauit and a dive in Barracuda Lake, where warm and cool layers of water meet beneath the limestone cliffs of Coron Island.

Maps & Itinerary
This itinerary involves some long distance travel, including overnight sailings.
Coron Bay Wrecks
Around ten Japanese WWII supply ships sunk lie in Coron Bay. Most are heavily encrusted in coral and home to plenty of fish, and their holds and engine rooms still contain cargo and machinery.
Coron Reefs
Coral-covered seamounts and shallow reefs such as Twin Peaks and the Siete Pecados marine sanctuary, with turtles, schooling fish and good macro life.
Apo Reef Natural Park
Apo Reef covers about 34km² (13 square miles) and is the largest coral reef system in the Philippines. Protected since 1980, its walls and drop-offs are known for reef sharks, turtles, groupers and bumphead parrotfish.
Calauit
The seagrass beds off Calauit Island are home to a population of dugongs. Snorkelling excursions are run with local Tagbanua guides, and while sightings are frequent, they cannot be guaranteed.
Barracuda Lake, Coron Island
Ringed by the sheer limestone cliffs of Coron Island, Barracuda Lake is as striking above the water as below it. Clear water reveals jagged limestone formations, a shimmering layer where fresh water meets salt, and, if you’re lucky, the lake’s resident barracuda.
On a typical day we offer up to 4 dives; 3 day dives and a fourth sunset or night dive (No night dives in Tubbataha). The diving day is usually scheduled as follows:
- Light Breakfast followed by a briefing and Dive 1
- Full Breakfast, relaxation period, briefing and Dive 2
- Lunch, relaxation period, briefing and Dive 3
- Snack relaxation period, briefing and Dive 4, where possible
- Dinner
*The itinerary above is an example only and is subject to change depending on local regulations, guests’ experience, flight schedules, weather and logistics and is at the Captain’s discretion. Adverse weather can affect this route which includes several overnight sailings.
