Maps & Itinerary
Coron Bay Wrecks
Around ten Japanese ships sunk on 24th September 1944 lie in Coron Bay. Most are heavily encrusted in coral and home to plenty of fish, and their holds and engine rooms still contain cargo and machinery.
Coron Reefs
Coral-covered seamounts and shallow reefs such as Twin Peaks and the Siete Pecados marine sanctuary offer a change of pace from the wrecks, with turtles, schooling fish and good macro life.
Coron Island – Barracuda Lake
Ringed by the sheer limestone cliffs of Coron Island, Barracuda Lake is as striking above the water as below it. Clear water reveals jagged limestone formations dropping away beneath you, and a shimmering layer where fresh water meets salty.
Culion
Culion’s reefs are good for nudibranchs and anemones. Above the water, the old town has a fascinating history as the Philippines’ leprosy colony.
Linapacan Islands
Too far from Coron or El Nido for day boats, Linapacan’s scattered islands see very few divers. The appeal is the clear water and the sense of exploring reefs and walls that most people pass straight by.
El Nido & Bacuit Bay
Coral gardens sit beneath towering limestone cliffs in Bacuit Bay, where turtles reside. Between swim-throughs at Paglugaban, anemonefish on Entalula Wall and a tunnel through Dilumacad Island, there’s plenty of variety, and no shortage of macro subjects.
Honda Bay
Near Puerto Princesa, the small islands of Honda Bay are ringed by shallow reefs with a good mix of hard and soft corals. Juvenile blacktip sharks are often seen at Helen’s Garden.
On a typical day we offer up to 4 dives; 3 day dives and, where possible, a fourth sunset or night dive. The diving day is usually scheduled as follows:
- Light Breakfast followed by a briefing and Dive 1
- Full Breakfast, relaxation period, briefing and Dive 2
- Lunch, relaxation period, briefing and Dive 3
- Snack relaxation period, briefing and Dive 4, where possible
- Dinner
The itinerary outline above is an example only and is subject to change depending on local regulations, guests’ experience, flight schedules, weather and logistics and is at the Captain’s discretion. Adverse weather can affect this route, which includes several overnight sailings.
Please note
• Penetration of the Coron wrecks is at the dive guides’ discretion and only for divers with appropriate training, experience and equipment.
• Reaching Barracuda Lake involves a short, steep climb over limestone steps carrying your dive gear.
